Mason Jenkins and the murder of his sister Jennifer Jenkins
This is a link to the trailer for a documentary called "Life with Murder":http://www.nfb.ca/film/life_with_murder_clip/
The case is a little old (the murder occurred in 1998), but the "facts" of the case continue to evolve. It's an absolutely gripping documentary, one which I think falls perfectly within your wheelhouse, and it is currently available on Netflix if you happen to have it. A brief synopsis follows:
"Chatham, Ontario, 1998. Eighteen-year-old Jennifer Jenkins is brutally shot to death by multiple rifle rounds in her family home. The main suspect: her brother, Mason Jenkins, who fled the scene of the crime. After fabricating a story about what occurred, Jenkins was incarcerated. His parents, facing the loss of both their children, chose to support his claims of innocence, repressing the dark secret of their son's true intentions. Concurrently shocking and heartbreaking, John Kastner's finely crafted mystery slowly reveals the many layers of a family dynamic that becomes its own enigma, drawing from a decade's worth of coverage, including police interrogation videos, home movies, and incredible interviews with Jenkins, his family, and the case's investigators."
Thanks for considering it.

I continue to be disgusted by Mason Jenkins. His parents must be a little on the mental side to remain that devoted. If my son murdered my daughter, no more son. Brian died to just get out of that situation. I have serious doubts about Mom. She is definitely Mason's Mom, nutty as a fruitcake. The documentary gives us insight as to her disturbing behavior. The way she coddles Mason, almost blaming her daughter for her own death
Her stoic behavior when she spoke of Jennifer's death. Mason hated his sister for her accomplishments. Plain and simple he was jealous. He is deranged and a true psychopath. Had he had a different weapon he certainly would have murdered the entire family.
The DOC certainly does not accommodate all prisoners in luxury, do they? Are they using taxpayer's money to allow that dirtbag a fully furnished trailer for family visits? ?? Let him rot!!!! -

No one should judge these parents to me this would be living hell on earth. Mason is a psychopath and needs to come clean with his parents everyone else knows what happened but I believe they have to think it was an accident or they would crumble..Much respect for his father he is more honest with himself he knows deep down what his son is, you can tell. Mason should never be parolled. This is a cautionary tale of spoiled manchild. He acts like a child still its creepy... His accommodations are way too nice for a prisoner which is corrupt.. I just don't think he has had enough consequences for brutally murdering his sister its kind of a joke. But God Bless his family and I hope they find a way for Peace especially Brian

It’s amazing how much a parent is willing to deal with, Out of love for their child, even a sociopathic murderous one. Not once during the documentary did he say “I’m sorry”. He’s a manipulating coward for not telling the whole truth from the get go, only worried that the parents won’t support him anymore?? I think a second documentary outlining his childhood would be interesting. Clearly his mother had been downplaying his bad behavior leading up to the murder. And the poor father’s going to an early grave from a broken heart

Not retarded. He completely remembers everything & why. He’s a psychopath hiding his secret enjoyment & branding himself with his kill (the tattoo). Don’t mistaken his blah personality/responses for mental incompacity- look at his original police interviews- he is able to “create” emotional responses. My only other side thought, as a RN, is he also reminded me of someone on anti-psychotic meds.
I think he wanted to do it & enjoyed it- thus the overkill. Plus the thought of killing his entire family but changed his mind because of the weapon he had. A psych evaluation & what his childhood tendencies were would be interesting to know. I think there would be a good chance he would kill again if he were released. -

I am surprised at all the things he is entitled to as a prisoner.

Has he ever been released from prison? Can’t find anyth8ng on the internet. Just watched the documentary. He needs to stay there. He admitted to wanting to kill his parents. I’d be scared if I was them.

To clarify this guy is a psychopath. The difference is his capacity to cause physical harm to others without emotions. Sociopaths do not cause physical harm to others. There is but a small amount of activity going on in his amygdala portion of his brain. "primary role in the processing of memory, decision-making and emotional responses (including fear, anxiety, and aggression)"
I noticed the mother describing that when he stole cars that "if possible" he would return in back to where it was. It's as if she is trying to downplay his mischievous behavior. There were a lot of similarities between the Mother and Mason in regards to emotion or lack thereof. The father and Daughter seemed to be the most alike and most punished through this scenario. I noticed when the father was at the table at the prison trailer (nice accommodations!!) He was asking him how old was he? Mason responded uninterested that "I don't know" The father condescendingly mocks his math and memory skills and fills in the blanks for him. There is clearly more to this story than the creators were able to convey in an hour and 34 minutes time frame. It is truly a tragedy and Mason should be recognized for what he is and that is a true danger to society. I believe they continue to visit him because they feel in part guilty because it was they who raised him. It could also explain their lack of fear of him. They might feel that they too were better off dead given their parental unintended complicity in the Murder of their own Daughter. Let this be a lesson to other Parents. If your kid exhibits behavior like this early on. Do not bail them out. There must be consequences for their actions. Your life may be next.

Did anyone besides me hear the mother try to blame the daughter for her murder by saying she was very particular about everything being just so or OCD? That one comment spoke volumes to me.

This guy is playing his parents like a fine fiddle! And after he murders his sister he tries to make his get away on a horse so he can think?! Huh😳 He sent his father to an early grave to. There were times you could see hate in his fathers eyes when he looked at his son and when mason just sat around in deep thought the look in his eyes is chilling and pure evil. When they buried there daughter they should have mentally buried there son to and never looked back!

Sociopathic! Parents are in extreme denial and have enabled his behavior all his life. Very sad situation!

He murdered his sister because he was so jealous of her. He says a few times how perfect she was and how she was, "going places". He never gives a straight answer, which is SO infuriating. He is so good at starting sentences with vague things and then waiting just long enough for someone to lead him along and then it's "yeah, it was like, I mean, it was like, It's hard to explain....". All along the doc, he slowly trickles in the truth. He's full of shit and he is finally getting the attention he ALWAYS wanted. His Dad knows he did it and I think he would cut off all communication with him, but he loves his wife and so he doesn't. I felt that the most when Mason wouldn't stop trying to talk about Jennifer saying that, 'oh I'll never have Jennifer to take care of me now.. Blah blah", when the Dad was obviously not wanting to and then trying to like tattle on him with his Mom, like "what could possibly be wrong with Dad, he seems closed off."

It is chilling to watch mason in his unguarded moments. As the song goes, " the lights are on, but nobody's home." Heart aches for mom and dad.

I've watched this documentary twice and am flabbergasted...absolutely flabbergasted. I cannot imagine the pain that these parents have gone through.
Their son is evil and selfish, as is shown in his telephone call with the father on the anniversary of his sisters murder: Telling his mother that his dad didn't seem to want to talk. Wow..I can't believe that he is surprised.
Poor Brian is slowly dying, the mother makes excuses, and the son continues not "telling it all"..one day he will. WTF??
What struck me was the way they were trying to behave like a normal family in the Correctional Trailer, as if nothing were out of the ordinary..it was anything but ordinary.
I can understand the parents to a degree, they lost a daughter and chose not to lose their son as well.
Can a family be healed, can the relationship be repaired. I don't think so. Interesting that they never showed any anger towards Mason, or confronted him, they talked as if the murder was done by someone else. Surreal.
The last comment is about the prison that Mason was in...plants? family rooms? It looked like a hotel....WTFMurdered his sister while on parole, stole his parents lives while not actually killing them as he wanted to....makes me puke
