Assessment of fiction
I was wondering if you'd consider watching (just for fun!) an episode of a fictional TV program and giving us your impressions. I'm very curious what you see when you watch scripted TV, but I have only found one entry on "acting."
The specific program I'd like you to watch is Homicide: Life on the Street and the episode is titled "Three Men and Adena." It is 45 minutes long.
http://www.movie-source.org/tv-10218-Homicide-Life-on-the-Street/season-1-episode-5 (depending on your web browser, some of the sites do have dreadfully irritating adverts).
I'm not sure you dislike fiction or if you merely prefer non-fiction and thus rarely choose to watch scripted TV shows. If it's the former then I won't try to inflict 45 minutes of it on you. If it's the latter, I wonder if a no stress, no stakes review might be a fun break from reviewing the crooks and liars and thieves and murderers you normally endure.
Since it is a performance (almost musical theatre at one point) and there is no lying involved, it is completely different from the type of review you normally provide, but I am terribly curious as to what types of things you see when you watch actors. Are the unrealistic aspects enough to break your suspension of disbelief or can you overlook them and be moved by the performances? I think the three featured actors are top notch, and this episode is generally considered to be one of the finest hours of TV every produced. I would love to read your assessment. :-)
No hurry; by all means put it on the back burner for a rainy day. I also won't be offended if you don't enjoy scripted TV enough to spend 45 minutes watching a program and then more time writing about it. :-)
All the best,
Lily
P.S. Don't read any reviews first! The reason I have suggested this specific episode will become apparent if you choose to watch it.

I saw your email and I looked (unsuccessfully) for other links to the episode. I'm sorry all of the movie-source links are either broken or require a download. I had checked them before I sent the request, the "Loombo" video was up and streaming automatically. I guess since it's an old show there isn't much demand... Thank you for attempting to view it. :-)

I love to get swept away in good TV, so I feel like I'm taking something away from you by writing too much, but I also have to accept that fact that you might not be the type of person who goes to the theatre (theatre, not movies), sits on the edge of her seat the whole time and loves every moment.
So, I'll admit that am asking two questions:
Question 1. Can you enjoy the acting in a show that is very good (I hate to say this, but other than the pilot, I thought "Lie to Me" was rather poorly acted, written and directed).
Question number 2 is full of spoilers and will be sent via email with the subject header "Three Men and Adena". -

Also, like I said, I love watching actors act. :-) Asking a direct question that might give away parts of the ending feels like ruing Christmas.

Hi Eyes, I truly appreciate the offer to watch the first five minutes :-), but in this case the first five minutes would not address the issue. They just set up the premise for new viewers; All the episodes starting with the pilot were building up to this one.
I don't want to "spoil" anything, but I cannot stress enough that this particular episode of this particular TV show was chosen for a very specific reason. If anything, my "OMGs" began around 14 minutes in, the wham is during the last 15 minutes. The issue in question (which will be obvious when viewed and could require only three or four words) is not really even addressed in the first five minutes.
I know I could just ask you straight out what I want to know, but it would "spoil" the episode. Without explicit permission to do so, writing spoilers is considered to be worst TV etiquette. :-)P.S. At risk of saying too much, while this episode is indeed, as I said, considered to be one of the finest hours of TV ever, I also cannot think of another one that has sparked as much debate...

The unreal aspects of acting take me out of the moment and I focus on the qualities of the poor acting and lose interest.

I may try to watch 5 minutes and share my thoughts. Would that be helpful?

P.P.S. To clarify my post script: if watched, it will become apparent why I am interested in YOUR opinion of this episode...
