The interview is post-conviction, but apparently the case is in appeals court with a judge's recommendation that the conviction be overturned. I do not know if this might again "raise the stakes" on deception? (Sorry, I'm not very familiar with the exact procedure of the US appeals system.)
But yes, the only part before conviction is the 911 call.

I haven't had time to review yet, but does he talk about this after his conviction? This is important to me.
