Bob Harrod's Daughter
Dear Eyes For Lies,
I'm a great admirer of your work, and would so appreciate it if you could take a look at a video that has me hypnotised each time I watch it, though I can't pinpoint exactly why. I'm afraid I wouldn't make it as even a wizard's bumbling apprentice - though I'd love to be.
I know you don't cover cold cases, but as this about Bob Harrod, whose case is about to air nationwide on ID TV's 'Disappeared', I thought I'd chance my luck. Dear Bob's case is bound to be at least a little hot once the show airs on Thursday, April 4th, 2013, 8pm and 11pm PT/ET.

Bob Harrod was an eighty-one-year old newlywed millionaire, who had just wed his childhood sweetheart from 60 years before. He disappeared from his Placentia, California home two days before his new wife was due to return from a trip back home to Missouri, and just before he could add her to his accounts as he intended. Bob's son-in-law was working in Bob's home that day, but the time Bob disappeared is unknown. This was in 2009.
The video shows son-in-law's wife (Bob Harrod's youngest daughter, Julie Michaels) on the morning after Bob's disappearance. She had travelled to the home to change the sheets on Bob's bed, and agreed to a spur of the moment interview. Here it is - the daughter's interview starts around 0:57 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RSV7Lhqqus
Many thanks in advance for a brilliant site, even if you are not able to look at the video,

The show mentions nothing about the daughter being there. Were the police aware of this and if so did they check her vehicle? She said she came to change the sheets. Why would he ask her to do that when the cleaning lady was scheduled to be there that same day???? And why wasn't it done? The cleaning lady said the bed was unmade. Yes, the daughter's eyes are WAY to open as though compelling one to BELIEVE her.

I totally agree with most people on this site this is to do with his daughters and Son in law and his money is in the centre of all this! Something went on that day of the family meeting. How dare they be questioning him about paperwork to do with there mother! I WOULD NOT DARE ask my dad to produce any paperwork of my dead mother(its got to be to do with money!) when she had passed. Shame on some people......shame on you! Never thought of him at all....just yourself!

Just watched this story on tv in England....someone knows what happened...i believe his family know!! Greed and money wreck lives and this poor man who worked all his life to provide for his family was snuffed out....hats off to the police who probably have a theory but alas no proof...god rest his soul and may his murderer one day face his or her maker and be banished to hell for what they did ....

At least one of them daughters or son in law knows what happened. Cold hearted b***hes their dad was happy after their mom died amd its no coincidence that he went "missing" right after having a convo with his kids about money and right before fontelle moved there so they knew after she moved there her name would be on paperwork and it would be the last time he was home alone with no witness of who he left with or whatever. In the beginning it said his daughter was trying to help him find fontelle right before she found him but I doubt his daughter even tried. They said he wasnt of sound mind yet his Dr said he was fine. The daughters only thing about saying he wasnt of sound mind was saying he repeated himself to her but im thinking its more because she wouldn't get the point or get it through her thick head the first time.

I was wondering if the police also checked Bob's car? I know they did the son in law's but what if Bob was took away in his own car knowing that his DNA would already be there. I think it's worth a look if it hasn't been examined before.
Also, is it my understanding that he had cut contact with his daughters for 6 months and the first contact back with them was the family meeting? So does that mean they were not talking or around when he married Fontelle? I couldn't remember all the details about that. -

A bunch of greedy shady daughters. They had everything to do with their fathers disappearance. Who the hell are they to demand that he keeps them informed about HIS money? Typical for them to claim he wasn't of sound mind and showing signs of dementia. They are disgusting human beings and shouldn't get a dime of that money. I hope that their children do the same things to them in the next 20 yrs. You reap what you sow

She's lying. It's obvious. All the comments about how much she cares for Fontelle prove that. It is very clear the children didn't like her and had no intention of letting their Dad's money go to her.

Interesting, just before he could add her to his accounts. It was his money and he should have been able to do what he wanted with it. Greed, greed, greed. Now who would have benefited from that??? Hmmmm...... -

That's what guilty looks like and it's creepy. A feeling of extreme dread and hidden lies. Very disturbing indeed.

There is an estate sale starting today at the home on Carnation. I didn't make the connection until I was reviewing some paperwork for Bob's 1923 Model T Ford. I felt an instant sadness for him and wondered if Frontelle had passed.

Hey Gargar-Fontelle couldn't move back to her own house, because she and Bob had sold it-just hope his kids didn't get that money, too.

The family, daughter had something to do with it... so stupid. You can see the guilt on those greedy old bags...money they never earned.

Hmmm. Noticed police said son-in-law's house (one who was doing repairs day Mr. Harrod went missing) was searched top to bottom and can't reveal what they found. Hmmm. He didn't say they hadn't found anything. Seems they are on to something but need more proof to link him to a crime.

Gargar- sounds as if you are a family member protecting yourselves. "What if it was your father" you say? I certainly wouldn't have killed him for his money. And the reason Fontelle is sticking around? She wants to see justice. There will be justice.

Has the police checked the nursing homes and mental asylums. The daughters could've easily had Bob admitted into one of these facilities. I strongly believe the answer lies there. I don't think they could murder their dad. But have him admitted to a home implying that he has a mental issue and even stating that he is confused and combative, could make it difficult for Bob to get out of that situation. I have worked in that kind of facility. They keep close watch over patients who are said to be confused and combative. They also keep codes on elevators to keep patients from wandering which would make it hard for Bob to leave. And especially with the family or person who is having him committed stating specifically what not to let him do such as get a hold of a phone or let him wander. It could be hard to get staff to actually take Bob serious if he tries to let them know who he is. And especially if they paid to have his name and documents changed. Even though his face was all over the news, that could've been easily over looked. Especially if they had him committed in another state. I strongly believe that is what happened. He went with his daughter willingly because she may have talked him into believing they were going elsewhere. And when he realized what was happening he probably got combative in front of the staff and that confirmed her story. It was all premeditated by the daughters. The police have to check those institutions.

Just saw the "Disappeared" episode about Bob Harrod. This gentleman was a neat man. Not making his bed the morning he disappeared, says a lot. Family member or members together are the villains here. Jeff Michaels seems the most obvious. Something could have happened to Bob long before Jeff went to hardware store. I am thinking it happened as soon as he got up or he was wakened to something happening. Jeff didn't know the cleaning lady was coming that day either. A man would have to be involved to carry or move Bob. Was Jeff's vehicle checked? The daughters cars? Who refused lie detector procedure. This man was not as demented as they wanted to make him either. My college education is in nursing and behavioral science. This happened to him when the daughters found out that Fontelle was going to be included and they wanted it all. They never said anything about how they loved or cared or missed their father. Too much time has passed to check their cars. Please don't let this family get away with this man's demise.

The ONLY people who seem upset Bob is gone is his housekeeper and his new wife. The rest of his family seems more concerned with "where/what he is doing with his money" than with dad going missing.
My sympathy is with his wife (who wasn't even in the state when he went missing). The son is law did it. -

Just saw a rerun of this case for the first time and truly believe the family knows something and closed ranks. Given his assets and them asking for access to the funds for a reward why would they not engage their own private detective? They all seemed to assume him dead and have no desire for closure or they would have pushed for vigils and searches it seems.
I feel sorry for Fontelle who completely changed her life stating she had no home to go back to looking forward to spending the rest of her life with her young sweetheart. Her new daughter in laws have no such compassion for this woman who their father loved.
Hopefully those involved will suffer for eternity if they don't step forward and do the right thing.
