Bob Harrod's Daughter
Dear Eyes For Lies,
I'm a great admirer of your work, and would so appreciate it if you could take a look at a video that has me hypnotised each time I watch it, though I can't pinpoint exactly why. I'm afraid I wouldn't make it as even a wizard's bumbling apprentice - though I'd love to be.
I know you don't cover cold cases, but as this about Bob Harrod, whose case is about to air nationwide on ID TV's 'Disappeared', I thought I'd chance my luck. Dear Bob's case is bound to be at least a little hot once the show airs on Thursday, April 4th, 2013, 8pm and 11pm PT/ET.

Bob Harrod was an eighty-one-year old newlywed millionaire, who had just wed his childhood sweetheart from 60 years before. He disappeared from his Placentia, California home two days before his new wife was due to return from a trip back home to Missouri, and just before he could add her to his accounts as he intended. Bob's son-in-law was working in Bob's home that day, but the time Bob disappeared is unknown. This was in 2009.
The video shows son-in-law's wife (Bob Harrod's youngest daughter, Julie Michaels) on the morning after Bob's disappearance. She had travelled to the home to change the sheets on Bob's bed, and agreed to a spur of the moment interview. Here it is - the daughter's interview starts around 0:57 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RSV7Lhqqus
Many thanks in advance for a brilliant site, even if you are not able to look at the video,

It's an inside job, for sure. Motive; follow the money. Which daughter and son in law were having financial troubles? Jeff was the last person to see him. With a new wife in the picture, the daughter was worried about her inheritance.

Fontelle wasn't even in the state when he went missing be genius. If you listened she tried calling him two days before she left, the daughter CALLED HER AND SAID DADDY IS MISSING.
So please do tell us all how the "old gold digger" managed to do away with him when she was across country? Hmmmm? WOW. -

He got his bank statements every month & a reporting of the trust, that's what his daughters were griping about. How can you say he had no idea what he was worth? And, why were his daughters suspicious of "sweet old Fontell", cause he had not seen or been in touch with her for umpteen years & for all intents & purposes, was a total stranger! He married her after being reunited with her in just a couple of months! I'm glad ya'll aren't my children cause it's obvious that my best interest would not be of interest to you. I'm appalled! There are droves of "wolves", good example, the barber, just looking for elderly, vulnerable, wealthy people to take advantage of. It is his children's responsibility to look out for him, regardless of what his worth in dollars is. If he had early signs of dementia & went out walking, some druggie could have killed him for the money in his wallet or robbed him & he wandered around, got in a strange car, etc., & after all these years, could've died of natural causes, living among the homeless. My mother had it & until she was placed in assisted living, it was impossible to keep up with her & it would go from a very lucid moment, to something totally unexplainable. I hope someday he will be found, for closure. Just because he has money doesn't mean his daughters killed him for it. Something I would like to point out to all you Fontelle lovers, Mr. Harrod had a list of things to do, & LE saw that he was planning on adding her to the checking accounts but after he went missing, it's my feeling that Fontelle embellished on that & said that he was going to add her to his will, etc., and there is no proof he ever said that. AND, why would she want to stay in his home if he's not there & not move back to her home where her life, friends, family, etc. are? Because it's nicer than what she came from & she knows his kids will not throw her out, which I'm sure they could. She's an old gold digger.......I would love to know what kind of home, finances, etc. She came from...........if she lived in SC , she'd fit right in at Myrtle Manor! She knew him 3 months, technically, since WWII & now she wants part of his estate? I hope his girls fight her every step of the way! Go home hayseed........as she called herself! Ask yourself this: what if it was my father?

Barber went to help spread Bob's wife ashes on Boat. Maybe someone took him out for a last ride. Barber must have know she was going to be found out and maybe charged with elder abuse.
Good Mystery. -

On the Disappeared programme they say Bob walks a mile a day and his doctor says he is one of the healthiest 81 year old he knows... And yet when it comes to the family they say he cant walk far and he is frail etc why 2 completely different statements?? I personally think the family has something to do with it I also believe the day his son inlaw saw the house keeper there he was shaken up a bit and was suprised. If he was there when he left to go to the store what was he doing?? I believe he went up stairs to "pretend" to look around for his farther in-law and messed up the bed etc to make out he had slept there as he would not of know that Bob doesnt make his bed up everymorning and has just thought that his cleaner would find it normal for his bed to be unmade. Did he shout out Bobs name when they got into the house? To see if he answered or not? Its weird to me having lost my Dad the lack of emotion in his daughter's. My sympathy goes out to Fontell and all the friends Bob knew and are truly saddened by his disappearance. X♡X

Something tells me that his kids had something to do with the disappearance and now had the picture perfect person who they would accuse to take the eyes off of them. All through the show Disappeared there was mention about a "trust account" how the daughters were angry about Fontelle being added on it and also got upset if one thing was out of place on the acct. Why would a child be so protective of something that is NOT theirs until the very end and the will is read. Bob could leave it to the local library if he wanted.....it is his earnings, his money to do with as he pleases. Why when speaking do you speak in past tense then change it immediately when you catch yourself as if it was rehersed and then one forgot what to say. I know a woman who is money hungry and we have a mutual friend and she kept asking the friend if her mother died yet and how much was she collecting off of the will. People can hear money and get the dollar signs and that is it they are gone. One sure way for the kids to get the money and not Fontelle is to get rid of him (an able bodied young man could overpower and elderly man easily) and then have him declared dead when the time is up. Being he had not put her (Fontelle) on the accounts she would not immediately be entitled to any of it. She can fight in court....but she seems more interested in finging her love than to get his money. I strongly believed since I first saw Disappeared that the kids were possibly involved. I hope they will indeed come to find the truth and find Bob.

1) in this video Julie is talking about her dad- she said "was" then immediately changed to "is". That is a huge red flag- talking about her dad in the past tense less than 24 hours after he disappeared. Also, why would she be there to change the bed sheets when Agnes was already there to clean? Also, Agnes said the bed was NEVER not made in 10 years, this time it was unmade. Something happened in that bed and Jeff and Julie Michaels know what it was.
2) Bob Harrod goes missing the day after the trust meeting with his daughters. Roberta says after the meeting the teased Bob about being a newlywed and talked about Fontelle. Paula says they didn't mention Fontelle "at all". Why the discrepancy in their stories? Both daughters said the meeting ended well. Do teller said Bob called her that night and was clearly shaken about the meeting and still upset. Here's the deal, Bob told the girls he was adding Fontelle to the accounts and trust, so they did talk about Fontelle. This is where Bob made his mistake. This is the motive for his murder. His daughters had no idea what he was worth, nor was it any of their business. When he told them of his plans with Fontelle, they plotted.
3) Jeff and Julie should be the prime suspects. Why weren't they on the episode of Disappeared? The real question is do Paula and Roberta know what Julie and Jeff did?
3) Placentia police department did polygraph some family members and did check out Jeff's truck. He had ample time to clean it out, and their are ways to murder without leaving any evidence. I don't however understand how the police say his time is accounted for when they don't know exactly when Bob disappeared. There are many holes in Jeff's story.
4) One thing that did catch my attention is when the detective on the case said " the details lie in the battle for the money" which to me says the police do know the family has something to do with it. They just don't have enough evidence. -

Astounding new theory: Son in Law did it.
Daughters and son in law were pissed because Bob had just loaned $15,000 to his barber, Bob was not providing information as required by the trust, and Bob had just married a woman who he didn't know very well spur of the moment. They were pissed and figured that Bob would give all that money to his new bride instead of them. Son in Law killed Bob, thinking that his disappearance would somehow affect the distribution of Bob's estate.
It would be interesting to know what Son in Law does for a living and whether he worked in an industry or trade that regularly used large trash dumpsters. If so, did Son in Law work near Bob's home? Was there such a dumpster en route to Home Depot?
Sorry for his wife's loss. I hope that she has a good lawyer.

I believe something happened in his bedroom. Remember the maid said Bob always made his bed! It was not made that day...I feel the son-n-law did something to him before Bob had the time to make his bed..Police didn't find any evidence in his truck because he probably strangled Bob, so there would be no evidence left behind. It all has to do with the money and the kids worrying about Bob's new wife being included in the will. Greedy kids!!!! At least that is my opinion. The Police really botched this case !!!!! RIP Bob...........

That had to of been one of the most forced tears i have ever seen, its so obvious that his own children probably plotted together with the youngest daughters husband. This is just sick and these cops really need to look into this more and leave Fontelle out of it, poor lady. I feel so sorry for her

I would also like 2 ask why the police aren't doing more of course the daughter and son n law done it and possibly the other 2 they said their self they never knew what their parents were worth and when they found out they start wonting 2 know why he's not letting them know more consistently about the trust so when fontelle was coming home it hit them dad was putting her in his will I'd say he told them during the Last meeting they just 4got 2 tell the law that they had no emotions at all about their poor father greed does awful makes humans do awful things

I think the daughter probably bitched 2 her husband about her daddy remarrying and the trust that was left 4 the 3 girl's common sense tells u it was over money and the son n law was over their working 4 bob and don n law goes 2 pick something up comes back bob's disappeared ofcourse he done something 2 poor bob and his sweet wife all they wanted was 2 spend the rest of their lives 2gether what a shame this greedy man and bobs daughter should finally pay

The daughters are cold and defensive. Ironically, I believe it takes 7 years to declare someone dead so they may have to wait to collect, which seems their primary concern.

I just remembered that Fontelle does say in the Disappeared show that Bob called her after the meeting and said it didn't go well and it was a stressful experience for him. Fontelle alleges Bob told her that he told his daughters that one of his immediate concerns was to add Fontelle to his will and bank accounts as soon as she arrived from Missouri to California. Fontelle arrived a couple of days after the meeting and Bob disappeared less than 24 hours after having met with his daughters. Being honest with his daughters and telling them his intentions regarding Fontelle and his estate either set them all off or 1 or 2. None seemed to like Fontelle. If it was just 1 of the daughters then it looks like it would be the youngest. Her husband was working at Bob's house doing odd jobs to fix up the home before Fontelle's arrival. The son-in-law claims that Bob wasn't there when he arrived but I don't believe it. Bob's own son-in-law refused to be on the show but Bob's housekeeper agreed to be interviewed?

Agree Josh but it's an older sister who claims that they did not discuss Fontelle (Bob's new wife) during the last meeting! I don't believe that for a second. Another daughter claims their father was always "very private" and never discussed his "personal" business with them?! She adds that this extreme "privacy" was his prerogative. Is she drunk? During the entire show, we are listening to several of Bob's daughters fully admitting to butting their noses into their father's business on a regular basis after their mother passed away. In fact, they were such a bunch of busy bees bothering Bob, at one point, he cut them ALL off. I believe the program's narrator said Bob was so fed up with the frequency of all of his daughter's complaining and trying to control his financial affairs, he stopped communicating with them for 6 months. He had only recently started speaking to them and then he vanished. Can it really just be a coincidence that Bob disappeared less than 24 hours AFTER the family meeting? After watching Disappeared a 3rd time I find the language used by all of the daughters suspicious. Their complete lack of emotion is deeply troubling. I realize everyone grieves differently but for all of the daughters to NOT show any emotion? No way.

Just watched Bob's story on Disappeared. Very suspecious of his daughters. One or all three were in on it. I think the key lies with the youngest daughter (didn't see her as much as the ithers in the show). I think the night before Bob vanished they intended to try and talk their way into getting their dad to make the changes they wanted to the trust. Bob must have told them something they really didn't want to hear or let happen - such as added his new wife to his estate. One or all three of the daughters felt something needed to be done right away before the wife returned from out of state.
My guess would be if one of the daughters decided to take action with out the others, she got help from her husband.
